What are the benefits of our balers?

Space saving

Save space in your loading bay

By compressing waste materials into compact, manageable bales, our balers free up valuable space in your facility, keeping your workspace organised and efficient.

Cost effective

Cost savings

Baling waste reduces the frequency and cost of waste collections by consolidating materials, allowing you to transport more waste in fewer loads. This also reduces vehicle movements and carbon emissions. Some recyclables such as cardboard can even generate revenue for your business.

Recycling rate

Improve recycling efforts

Balers help segregate recyclable materials like cardboard, making recycling more efficient and boosting recycling rates.

Balers questions answered

  • As with any equipment, balers require regular maintenance to ensure they are kept in good working order. We offer preventative maintenance packages with all our balers, which provide two annual maintenance inspections and services. We recommend 2 services per annum but for low use sites this can be dropped to one per annum.

  • All our balers comply with British Standards EN16500, which includes fully monitored safety systems.

  • This depends on the planned location of the baler. Outdoors in a large loading area, installation and training can typically be completed within 2 hours.

  • Although they take up more space, they offer automatic loading reducing labour intensity. Material can be thrown into the hopper and automatically baled reducing the need for manual loading on traditional vertical balers.

  • We rent balers on 3-5 year rental terms. You can also purchase balers outright from Recorra.

  • For a heavily used outdoor baler, we would expect a lifespan of 15 years. For an indoor baler or a low-use baler, it can last longer. Regular servicing typically extends the working life of a baler.

  • A baler compresses recyclable materials like cardboard and plastics into dense, stackable bales, making them easier to store and transport. Bales are subsequently ejected from the machine allowing you to store multiple bales at your site. In contrast, a compactor compresses the volume of general waste or mixed recycling within a single container, making large volumes of waste more manageable.

  • Baler size depends on your waste volume and the types of materials you process. Our mini balers compact upwards of 50kg of material, whereas our Mill Size balers create bales of up to 500kg. Contact us today, and we can help you choose the right size based on your specific needs.

  • Balers are versatile and can process various recyclable materials. They are predominantly used for baling cardboard but can be used for other materials such as plastic film. The type of baler you need depends on the materials you handle most frequently.

  • Yes, whilst balers are easy to operate, personnel must have training to ensure health and safety protocol is met.

  • If you generate large volumes of cardboard and would like to reduce the storage space needed, we recommend using a cardboard baler.
