What happens to your secure textiles containers?

Client Sites
01

Recorra collects your textiles from your workplace, to be stored at our secure shredding unit.

Box Vehicle
02

From there, they are transported to our UK-based recycling partner. Your textiles are shredded in compliance with BS EN 15713. You will then be provided with a Certificate of Destruction.

Clothing and textile recycling
03

After shredding, your textiles will be recycled in a closed-loop, fibre-to-fibre process. The broken-down fibres are used to create brand new textile products.

Insulation
04

Where fibre recycling is not possible, shredded materials can be re-used as a composite part of a range of different products, including insulation, geotextiles, partition walls, and sound boarding.

Secure textiles questions answered

  • If uniforms are over 50% natural content, they can be recycled. Items made from synthetic fibres are more challenging to recycle due to their chemical composition. Where recycling is not possible, these materials are sent to an Energy from Waste (EfW) facility where they are incinerated to produce renewable energy and heat.

  • Your lockable bins are stored at our secure shredding unit, before being shredded in compliance with BS EN 15713. You will be provided with a Certificate of Destruction to confirm this. All staff collecting secure textiles are vetted.

  • We have a separate textile recycling service for regular, non-branded clothing. This is more cost effective as it does not need to be treated with such a high security standard.
