FareShare Teams up with Coca Cola

Friday 16th December 2016

Like us here at Paper Round, food charity FareShare let nothing go to waste, and this Christmas they have joined Coca Cola to help provide food to those in need.

The joint Christmas campaign will raise funds and also awareness of Fare Share and the amazing work they do to help provide food to vulnerable people across the UK.

Last year the food charity saved over ten thousand tonnes of food from being wasted which provided enough food for over 21.9 million meals.

Look out for the FareShare logo on bottles of coke this Christmas.

Here’s how you can support the charity and help donate a meal to someone in need.

  1. Buy a bottle of Coke with FareShare’s logo on. From now until the last day of the year, the logo will appear on 30 million promotional bottles of Coca-Cola Classic, Diet Coke, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and Coca Cola Life.
  2. Take a photo of the side of the bottle showing the Fare Share logo.
  3. Upload the picture to www.cocacola.co.uk/donate
  4. Repeat for as many days as you like until the end of the year.

Coca-Cola will then donate 25p to FareShare for every image successfully uploaded to the website.  25p is how much it costs Fare Share to redistribute enough food for a frontline charity to serve up a meal for someone in need.

The meals provided will consist of mostly fresh produce, including meat, fish, poultry, fruit and veg, dairy products and drinks. These meals will reach vulnerable people, such as disadvantaged children, people who are homeless, elderly people or families that struggle to put food on the table due to financial hardship.

Earlier this year volunteers here at Paper Round spent the afternoon at a Fare Share depot and saw first hand how these meals are provided. You can read more about their visit on our blog entry here. Get involved in the campaign and help the charity to continue to redistribute food waste and feed thousands in need.
