Can you guess the top items of litter found on our beaches?
The top 10 items found during the Great British Beach Clean 2017 carried out by our new charity partner the Marine Conservation Society:
- Plastic
- Packets (crisps, sweets, sandwiches)
- Glass
- Cigarette stubs
- Caps and Lids
- String
- Wet wipes
- Cotton buds
- Fishing line
- Cutlery, trays, straws
The Great British Beach Clean is the biggest clean up in the UK, with almost 7,000 people taking part in 2017. On average, 718 litter items were collected for every 100 meters, which is unfortunately up 10% from 2016.
