The Closed Loop Fayre

Monday 2nd October 2017

On Thursday 28th September, Paper Round joined forces with Derwent London Plc to celebrate Recycle Week 2017. There was no better location to host the event than Derwent’s latest building, White Collar Factory. BREEAM outstanding certified and producing 25% less carbon over current building regulations, White Collar Factory is the epitome of environmental performance. With London’s first rooftop running track at 230ft, the building itself supported the “Closed Loop” theme of the event.

The Closed Loop Fayre engaged and educated tenants in best practice recycling using a range of games and quizzes including hoola hooping and hoopla. The longest hoola hooper was a whopping 6 minutes! Paper Round Business Development Manager, James Hubbard, delivered a presentation informing tenants about the building’s recycling targets, using Paper Round’s best-in-class approach.

Edward Hubbard, Head of Client Services at Paper Round said

“It was fantastic to work with Derwent celebrating The 2017 Recycle Week. The theme ‘What goes around comes around’ supported the Paper Round vision and mission so it was important to us that we worked with a client to celebrate the week in style.”

The evening saw building managers from across Derwent’s property portfolio come to join in the activities and receive rewards for completing the Derwent 100 day challenge. The 100 day challenge encouraged buildings to improve their environmental performance across, you guessed it, 100 days.

John Davies, Head of Sustainability at Derwent London said

“The day was a great success and it was fantastic to see tenants engaging in the activities provided by Paper Round. We hope the partnership will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Building Managers Enjoying Hoopla

Derwent London Plc and Paper Round have been working in partnership since 2014 and have succeeded in increasing the overall recycling rate by 18% from 56% when Paper Round took on the contract to 74% in 2017. Sustainability is central to Derwent’s business model, and their preferred approach to growth is the refurbishment and regeneration of existing building stock, to harness and conserve good design.
