Show your Support this Fairtrade Fortnight

Tuesday 14th March 2017

When doing our weekly shop in the supermarket, many of us focus on one thing, a low price.

However, somebody has to pay for this price, and it’s the farmers and workers who endure unpleasant working conditions, long hours and low pay that suffer. Young children as young as seven are forced to go to work so that these cheap products can be kept at a low price.

Fairtrade.org (opens in a new tab), is calling on you to make a difference, however small, to farmers’ lives in developing countries all over the world.

Choosing Fairtrade means you’re making a conscious decision to help 1.65 million farmers and workers in 1,226 producer organisations across the Fairtrade system in 76 countries.

Fairtrade farmers benefit from the protection of workers’ rights, payment of the Fairtrade Minimum Price and an additional Fairtrade Premium to invest in business, education, or community projects.

Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs from Monday 27 February to Sunday 12 March is running events all over the country organised by Fairtrade supporters and campaigners.  See the events map (opens in a new tab) to find a local Fairtrade Market taking place near you.

You can also check out the Fairtrade Fortnight Action Guide, which encourages you to introduce Fairtrade to your friends and workplace by ‘Putting Fairtrade into your break’.Just something as simple as switching to Fairtrade in a tea and coffee break when meeting with friends or in the office can benefit farmers all over the world.

The aim of the event is to raise as much awareness as possible in two weeks, but why support Fairtrade just this fortnight and not all year round.

As a company, here at Paper Round we show our support for Fairtrade all year round, by offering a variety of Fairtrade products on our stationery website (opens in a new tab), such as our Fairtrade tea and coffee.
