Living Wage Week 2018

Tuesday 6th November 2018

This week sees the launch of ‘Living Wage Week’ which is an annual celebration of the living wage movement alongside an announcement of the new rates of pay for 2018/19.

The Living Wage campaign is an independent movement of businesses and people who believe a hard day’s work deserves fair pay. Employers can choose to become Living Wage accredited and pay the Living Wage on a voluntary basis – providing an ethical benchmark for responsible pay.

Paper Round has a reputation for being ethical and honest and we have always paid our staff a fair wage. In 2011 we made it official, becoming the first waste management company in London to sign up to the Living Wage Foundation.

Alison Roe, Director of Recorra, told us a bit about what it means to her and the Company.

‘We are really proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer. We feel it is important, as part of our ethical approach to business, that all our staff are paid the Living Wage. We were the first waste management company in London to become accredited, although we have always paid above the minimum wage. It’s great to see so many companies becoming accredited because of what it means for the lives of their employees’

Keep your eyes peeled on social media this week with events, polls and case studies celebrating the success of the living wage movement. @LivingWageUK @Paperround
