That’s why our Managing Director, Bill Swan, recently participated in Landsec’s ‘Back To The Floor Day,’. This initiative is aimed at bringing top executives back to the frontline to engage with staff and gain first-hand insights into daily operations.
Connecting with the Team
Although this was Bill’s first time taking part in Landsec’s initiative, he is no stranger to frontline work. At Recorra, we believe that maintaining strong communication across all departments is essential. Bill prioritises spending time with frontline staff at least once a month. This hands-on approach helps management better understand the operational challenges and successes, leading to improved decision-making and stronger connections across the business.
A Day on the Frontline
During the event, Bill enjoyed another opportunity to experience the day-to-day workings of our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) up close and had the unique opportunity to work with the Landsec team. He worked directly on our MRF picking line, assisting with the segregation of recyclables, a critical part of our sustainability efforts. Bill also spent time operating forklifts and compactors at Landsec sites, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
A Culture of Understanding
At Recorra, we value the role of every team member in achieving our goals. To ensure everyone understands the importance of proper segregation and sustainability, all new starters are required to complete a picking shift at our MRF and spend a day operating our vehicles. This approach helps every team member, from senior management to new recruits, gain an appreciation for the work done on the frontline.
