Recorra were recently invited to volunteer for ZSL London.
A Group of Lucky volunteers helped prepare barrels of browse silage to feed animals such as giraffes, opaki, gorillas and columbas monkeys.
Due to the varieties of leaves the animals prefer coming from deciduous trees, leaves and tasty soft branches are stripped from the woody branches and packed tightly into barrels ensuring no air remains to prevent spoiling. The tasty food supply is stored over winter to ensure a varied food supply that is appealing and beneficial to the animals physical and mental wellbeing. On the menu for the day was Maple.
Recorra worked hard to prepare 4 barrels weighing over 40kg! For the second year running the girls beat the boys with the number of barrels completed in the fastest time!
Ready to begin!
