From Waste to Plate: Recorra and Plan Zheroes tackle food waste across London
Recorra’s new charity partnership with Plan Zheroes is helping to reduce food poverty and food waste across London, with each food waste collection from Recorra customers.
Having been founded as a charity initiative in 1988, giving back to our communities is fundamental to who we are. Some of our services are directly linked to our charity partnerships, meaning our customers support charitable causes daily, simply by giving us their waste. Through our work, we not only provide essential waste management services, but also make a positive impact on our community and planet.
Charity
For every food waste collection we carry out, we donate the equivalent of a meal to charities Plan Zheroes or FareShare. That means your leftovers and sandwich crusts aren’t totally going to waste: by recycling your food waste with us, they’re supporting the most vulnerable in society.
With their online platform, Plan Zheroes allows businesses to directly donate surplus food to communities in need. Their ultimate goal is to eliminate both food poverty and waste.
Recorra donates the equivalent of one meal to Plan Zheroes for every food waste collection we carry out in London, directly supporting efforts to provide food to those in need.
FareShare is made up of 18 independent organisations, that work together to redistribute food to nearly 8,500 frontline charities and community groups.
Recorra donates the equivalent of one meal to Fareshare for every food waste collection we carry out on the South Coast, helping to prevent food waste whilst tackling food insecurity and hunger.

We also undertake community clean ups on our shorelines and beachfronts to help tackle plastic pollution.
To empower our communities, we are committed to equipping future generations with the essential tools they need to succeed, including vital literacy skills.
That’s why, for every 15 laptops we collect, we donate a free tutoring session through the Children’s Literacy Charity.
